Steve Jones and Rodney Bingenheimer invited Leigh and Annabella down to a party they were co-hosting to celebrate the opening of über music photographer Mick Rock’s retrospective at the Lo-Fi Gallery in Los Angeles on Thursday March 24th, 2005.

The event was put together by the always fabulous Bryan Rabin, an old Bow Wow Wow pal from his Club Cherry days, who now co-owns the swanky Rabin-Rodgers event planning firm. Marilyn Manson, Billy Duffy (The Cult), Cherie Curry (The Runaways), Pamela Des Barres, Clem Burke and Nigel Harrison (Blondie), all came out to check out Mick’s images.

Bow Wow Wow were in fact the subject of Mick’s lens, when he was on assignment for the now-defunct UK music rag, Sounds. He shot the band while they were in the US recording “I Want Candy,” snapping them at the house they were staying in for the duration of the Florida recording sessions with producer Kenny Laguna. He also captured images of Annabella, Leigh, Dave and Matthew communing with the alligators whilst they were on a private tour of the Okeechobee Swamps.
Mick, who’s perhaps most well known for the striking image of Queen used on their “Bohemian Rhapsody” album cover, has also shot such legends as David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Mick Jagger, Lou Reed and The Ramones, to name but a few. You can check out his images at: www.mickrock.com
