August 13th

The forces of Friday 13th and Mercury in retrograde conspired against us for the last date of our summer tour, but, despite many obstacles the band prevailed, delivering their most fan-tastic show to date.

Bow Wow Wow and Brandon

Traffic on the 5 South to San Diego was moving with all the velocity of a snail stuck in glue. The journey, which should have taken two hours, took closer to five. By the time everyone finally made it to the venue, nerves were frayed and the sound check should have actually been over. To save time, we ordered dinner, while the band did a quick sound check. After a brief pause to eat, there were interviews with Rock.com and Tragic Kingdom (a No Doubt fanzine) to be done. We finally checked into the hotel at about 9 p.m., which meant that everyone had about an hour to get ready, before they had to head back to the venue for the show.

Though the show was a tough one for the tired band, the enthusiasm of some of Bow Wow Wow’s most die-hard fans made it all worthwhile. The band received some of the nicest calls and emails from friends and fans over the next few days.

A big “Thank You” to our webmaster David Holleman for keeping the Wowsers of the world united through the website and email list. And thanks go out to all those who came out, from near and far (Arizona, Illinois and Canada), for the show.
